Professional Activities

Dr. Morgan W. Mann is assistant professor (CHS) in the Division of Genetics and Metabolism. He is the assistant director of the Newborn Screening Program at the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene, where he oversees testing for metabolic disorders and hemoglobinopathies, and provides training and mentorship to students, residents, and fellows.

Clinical Interests

Mann is a board-certified clinical chemist serving as the assistant director of newborn screening at the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene. He is passionate about ensuring high quality test results for all newborns who are screened in the newborn screening program. He is particularly interested in improving the quality of care for newborns with inborn errors of metabolism.

Research Interests

Mann’s research interests relate to developing and improving testing for pediatric populations. In particular, he is interested in utilizing computational approaches to increase the performance (e.g. positive predictive value) of routine screening tests, and exploring new mass spectrometry technologies to improve screening and diagnostic tests for inborn errors of metabolism.
