Residents play a critical role in teaching medical students and others on the health care team, as role models and mentors. Our program also has a strong commitment to establishing and fostering meaningful mentoring relationships between faculty and residents. What began as a resident-driven initiative in 2010 blossomed into a longitudinal curriculum which spans all three years of residency. Its multidisciplinary nature provides residents with opportunities and relationships across the institution, the US, and abroad. Learn more about our Global Health Track.
Research is a cornerstone of our department. In fact, the Department of Pediatrics is ranked #10 of 85 medical school pediatric departments nationwide for awards from the National Institutes of Health. As part of our residency training, all residents complete a scholarly project that will challenge them to answer a hypothesis-driven question generated by their interests. Learn more about the research opportunities available to residents.
We support “The Wisconsin Idea”, which is a principle that education should influence people’s lives beyond the boundaries of the classroom, and the work of the university extends to the borders of the state.
