Division Highlights - Endocrinology & Diabetes

The Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes provides state-of-the-art medical care through four multidisciplinary clinics: diabetes, endocrinology, polycystic ovarian syndrome, and fitness.

Our research aims to improve the health and quality of life of children with diabetes and endocrine disorders.

2009 Highlights

  • David Allen, MD, was elected president of the Pediatric Endocrine Society.
  • Aaron Carrel, MD, and David Allen, MD, received a Medical Education Research Committee (MERC) collaboration grant on the effect of the built and social environment on physical activity in Hispanic children.
  • Vanessa Curtis, MD, Aaron Carrel, MD, and David Allen, MD, received a grant from the Genentech Center for Clinical Research to study the contribution of ethnicity and gender on adipokine response to cardiovascular fitness.
