Division Highlights - Critical Care

The Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine delivers comprehensive, state-of-the-art care to critically ill children admitted to American Family Children’s Hospital.

Our scholarly endeavors include advocacy, medical education, clinical and basic science research, and global health.

2010 Highlights

  • Juan Boriosi, MD, was in the top 10 percent of enrollers in a Hospira-funded multicenter trial.
  • Tom Brazelton, MD, MPH, FAAP, was promoted to vice chair for quality improvement for the department. He was also elected to the executive committee of the board of directors for the Committee on Accreditation of EMS Training Programs.
  • Pelin Cengiz, MD, and Michael Wilhelm, MD, were elected to the Society for Pediatric Research.
  • Melissa Cercone, MD, became associate director of the department’s residency program.
  • Marlowe Eldridge, MD, was a Hartwell Foundation research award finalist, and became a co-PI on a National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute contract on production assistance for cellular therapies.
  • Peter Ferrazzano, MD, received a renewal of his KL2 Scholar Award from the UW Institute for Clinical And Translational Research. The award supports his work on pediatric brain injury and neuroprotection.
  • Greg Hollman, MD, was chairman and course director of the 2010 International Pediatric Sedation Provider Course.
