Division Highlights - Infectious Disease

The Division of Infectious Disease cares for children with common, complex, or potentially life-threatening infectious diseases and illnesses.

Research interests include international health, respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, and fungal infections.

2009 Highlights

  • Bruce Klein, MD, became a charter member of the NIH study section on pathogenic eukaryotes, and was named its chairman for 2010-2012. He also received an NIH Challenge Grant and an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act supplement.
  • Bruce Klein, MD, was elected as a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the world’s largest scientific society.
  • James Conway, MD, received a new five-year grant from Sanofi-Pasteur, as principal investigator collaborating with the Wisconsin Division of Health Service, to study rates of pertussis among children under 59 months of age.
  • James Conway, MD, received the American Academy of Pediatrics' (AAP) Special Achievement Award for distinguished service and dedication to immunization projects for the chapter, national AAP and internationally.
