Bikash Pattnaik, PhD, was recently awarded $150,000 over 3 years from the UW Eye Research Institute’s Rebecca Meyer Brown/Retina Research Foundation Professorship for his project, “Mechanisms Underlying Kir7.1 Mutation Causing Snowflake Vitreoretinal Degeneration.” This study will address some of the pressing problems in Retinopathy of Prematurity. The disease blinding children is often detected late due to inaccessibility of visual testing.
