The University of Wisconsin Department of Pediatrics promotes the health of children and adolescents with a balanced program that seeks knowledge through research, provides outstanding educational opportunities, delivers high quality comprehensive clinical care and service, advocates vigorously for children and adolescents and is responsible to the changing needs of our community and society.
Extraordinary Patient Care
Our American Family Children’s Hospital (AFCH) continues to be spectacularly successful and busier than even our most optimistic projections. Patients come to AFCH from throughout Wisconsin, the United States and beyond. We also continue to expand clinical partnerships and outreach services so that we can provide outstanding care for even more children throughout the region.
Our research faculty are exceptionally active, which is reflected in the numbers of grants submitted and awarded---even in this tight funding climate. Our clinical research capacity also continues to grow, as we manage more studies aimed at improving the health of children and adolescents.
We provide outstanding educational opportunities to medical students, pediatric residents, subspecialty fellows and other health care providers. Our long tradition of placing high value on our education mission attracts faculty who are committed to sustaining a challenging and innovative atmosphere for learning.
Cultivating an Environment of Discovery
With the help of junior and senior faculty, we are creating an environment in which inquiry, curiosity, and discovery are the driving forces for our students, residents, fellows, and faculty. In each of our mission areas, we are all engaged in asking questions, and are trying hard to answer those questions. And through improved infrastructure, incentives and recognition of achievements, our momentum and enthusiasm increase every day.
