I never thought I'd stay in Wisconsin for residency after medical school here, but that changed after my interview day in Madison.
I was so impressed by the supportive people I met, their dedication to education and research, and their overall commitment to make their residents not just better physicians but better people. I loved the size of the residency program - large enough where you get all of the exposure you need and can find someone to cover a shift, but also small enough where you get to know all of your co-residents and will be on a first-name basis with most of your attendings. I felt very welcomed by all of the people I met on my interview day and was excited by the opportunities that would come from being affiliated with a large academic institution like the University of Wisconsin.
Aside from the program, I love all of the outdoor activities Madison has to offer. The biking trails make it easy to get outside and near the lake no matter where in the city you live, which is a great way to relax after a work day!
