Tyler Schroeder Receives Two Research Awards

Congratulations to Tyler Schroeder, a Research Assistant in Dr. De-Ann Pillers’ lab, who recently received two research awards. He was awarded a $2,000 grant-in-aid award from Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society, for his project on Snowflake Vitreoretinal Degeneration (SVD), which is a genetically inherited degenerative disease of the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) cells in the retina. Tyler also received $2,100 from Fight for Sight’s 2010 Summer Student Fellowship Award for his project, “Does mutant Kir7.1 channel render a dominant negative function in Snowflake Vitreoretinal Degeneration?”
