Congratulations to Peter Wolfgram, MD, on his fellowship award of $100,000 from the Genentech Center for Clinical Research in Endocrinology. The 2-year project entitled, “Role of Ethnicity in Fat Distribution and Insulin Resistance,” will compare ethnic differences in fat distribution in non-obese young females as measured by BMI and quantitative MR triglyceride concentration and adipose distribution. This study could further elucidate how obesity leads to chronic inflammation and insulin resistance in ethnically diverse populations of children, guiding future efforts for prevention and treatment of metabolic disease.
