Congratulations to Claudette Adegboro, MD, current Neonatology and Newborn Nursery Fellow, on a recent award of $20,000 from the UnityPoint Health Meriter Foundation for her project, “Analysis of FHR tracings to determine signs of neonatal encephalopathy in term infants.” This research project aims to develop a decision risk calculator, which incorporates data from Fetal Heart Rate (FHR) tracings and perinatal factors, to help prevent neonatal encephalopathy (NE). This risk calculator will allow UPH-Meriter obstetrical physicians to intervene and identify at risk fetuses in a timely manner to decrease the incidence of NE, one of the most serious birth complications affecting infants.
