SUMMARY:Pediatrics Grand Rounds- Health Equity Rounds- Brian Arndt\, MD
DESCRIPTION:Date: Thursday\, November 20\, 2025 \nTime: 7:30-8:30 a.m. CT via Zoom \nZoom Link \nTitle: Health Equity Rounds: Advancing Pediatric Nutrition Security Through Community Collaboration – The Secret Sauce \nSession Overview: \nThis session explores how communities can work together to ensure all children have consistent access to nourishing foods. Participants will learn to distinguish between food sufficiency\, food security\, and nutrition security\, and examine how each impacts pediatric health and development. Through real-world examples\, including “food is medicine” initiatives and the Wisconsin EATS Healthy framework\, the session highlights effective community-based strategies that promote health equity and increase access to fresh produce. Emphasis is placed on cross-sector collaboration as a key ingredient in advancing nutrition security\, with opportunities for participants to explore local assets\, develop action plans\, and identify strategies for sustainable impact. The hope is that learners will be equipped to foster partnerships and lead initiatives that support lasting improvements in child nutrition and community well-being. \nSpeaker: Brian Arndt\, MD\, professor\, Department of Family Medicine and Community Health\, University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health \n \nPlease text the 6-letter code provided in the livestream lecture to 608-260-7097 for CME credit. \n\nSeries Overview: Pediatric Grand Rounds is a weekly multidisciplinary and interprofessional conference designed to improve a participant’s ability to practice pediatric medicine\, including patient care\, conducting healthcare research\, providing medical education\, addressing public health\, and implementing innovation. \nTarget Audience: MD/DO\, RN\, APRN\, Residents\, Fellows\, and other Trainees. \nGlobal Learning Objectives: \n\n\n\nIdentify state of the art\, evidence-based practices for prevention\, diagnosis and treatment in pediatric medicine\nAnalyze issues of diversity\, equity\, inclusion\, and justice relevant to pediatric care\nCollaborate and communicate effectively with other health care professionals\, community members and families to advocate for the health care needs of children\nDescribe new scientific advances and trends in pediatric medicine that may be translatable and impact future patient care\nIdentify roles and responsibilities as part of a healthcare team that functions in value-driven\, ethical environments\n\n\nAccreditation Statement – Log into your ICEP account to view sessions\, check your credits and more! \n\n\n\n\nIn support of improving patient care\, the University of Wisconsin–Madison ICEP is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)\, the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)\, and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.\n\n\n\nCredit Designation Statements \nAmerican Medical Association (AMA) \nThe University of Wisconsin–Madison ICEP designates this live activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. \nAmerican Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) \nThe University of Wisconsin–Madison ICEP designates this live activity for a maximum of 1 ANCC contact hour. \nAmerican Board of Pediatrics (ABP) (for select sessions only — see individual session details) \nSuccessful completion of this CME activity\, which includes participation in the activity and individual assessment of and feedback to the learner\, enables the learner to earn up to 1 MOC points in the American Board of American Board of Pediatrics’ (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program.
