Then what happened?\nThe LCAST Child abuse injury plausibility APP is an evidence-based screening tool  with evidence-based data re bruising and brain injury (with future updates to include bone and biology!) and likelihood of abuse\, along with a guide of pertinent history of injury questions. The SCCM Pediatric Sepsis Definition Task Force recently published the new Phoenix criteria for sepsis and septic shock in children. In this talk we will introduction the development of the Phoenix Sepsis Score using a data-driven\, machine learning approach with an international database\, as well as the development and validation of the new Phoenix criteria for sepsis and septic shock. We will present the research methodology behind the Phoenix Sepsis Score\, drawing insights from extensive international data analysis and validation across diverse clinical settings. This Grand Rounds session will highlight children and youth-related findings from the 2025-2027 Dane County CHNA. DESCRIPTION:Date: Thursday\, January 30\, 2025 \nTime: 7:30-8:30 a.m. CST  via Zoom \nZoom Link \nTitle: The Evolution of a Pediatric Public Health Crisis: E-cigarette or Vaping-Associated Lung Injury Before and After the Appearance of COVID-19 \nSession Overview: E-cigarettes and vaping products were first introduced in the United States around 2007\, and quickly grew in popularity. By 2014\, e-cigarettes had become the most commonly used tobacco product among youth in the United States. An e-cigarette\, or vaping\, product use-associated lung injury (EVALI) outbreak was identified by the CDC in 2019\, with many cases in the adolescent population. The CDC launched a multistate investigation\, and cases reached a peak in September 2019\, shortly before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to declining case numbers as well as scarce resources related to the pandemic\, the CDC stopped collecting data on EVALI cases in February 2020\, but e-cigarettes and vaping products continue to be the most popular tobacco product among youth.
