DESCRIPTION:Date: Thursday\, March 13\, 2025 \nTime: 12:00-1:00 p.m. CST  via Zoom \nZoom Link \nTitle: Say What? Language Matters \nSession Overview: Join three family faculty to hear stories focused on the importance of language in the care of children with medical complexity and/or disability. These stories will illustrate how language can dehumanize and further fragment systems of care. Family faculty will deliver strategies to partner with families to humanize\, build trust and understand how language matters in improving the care of children with medical complexity and/or disability. \nSpeakers: \nLisa Treleaven \n \nEmma Bouza \n \nJessica Edgar \n \n  \nPlease text the 6-letter code provided in the livestream lecture to 608-260-7097 for CME credit. \nSeries Overview: The University of Wisconsin-Madison will partner with the Bluebird Way Foundation to host and produce 5 virtual Family-Led Academic Grand “FLAG” Rounds focused on Ableism in Pediatrics. These national\, quarterly educational sessions will be led and presented by families. FLAG Rounds flips the traditional model and embraces family as educators. Families will present an aspect of their “case” as a story and then offer strategies to develop knowledge\, skills and abilities to perform\, or partner in\, the essential activities of care of children with disabilities and/or medical complexity. \nTarget Audience: MD/DOs\, Nurses\, APRNs\, PAs\, Trainees including Residents\, Fellows\, Medical Students.
