Language Matters \nSession Overview: Join three family faculty to hear stories focused on the importance of language in the care of children with medical complexity and/or disability. These stories will illustrate how language can dehumanize and further fragment systems of care. These national\, quarterly educational sessions will be led and presented by families. FLAG Rounds flips the traditional model and embraces family as educators. Families will present an aspect of their “case” as a story and then offer strategies to develop knowledge\, skills and abilities to perform\, or partner in\, the essential activities of care of children with disabilities and/or medical complexity. \nTarget Audience: MD/DOs\, Nurses\, APRNs\, PAs\, Trainees including Residents\, Fellows\, Medical Students. This will include assessment (including determining when to send to the ER for further evaluation)\, safety planning\, brief in-office interventions\, documentation\, and follow-up care. There will also be a brief overview of effective outpatient therapies (e.g.\, individual DBT\, group therapy) for addressing safety concerns in pediatric populations. \nSpeaker: Hannah R.
