DESCRIPTION:Date: Thursday\, April 10\, 2025 \nTime: 7:30-8:30 a.m. CST  via Zoom \nZoom Link \nTitle: Health Equity Rounds: Race in Clinical Algorithms – Breathing Deeper into Lung Function \nSession Overview: \nUntil recently\, standardized tools for clinical decision-making have utilized race-specific algorithms due to the widespread belief in biological differences between races. It is now recognized that many of the so-called biological effects of race are\, in fact\, the effects of environmental exposures and social and economic deprivation as a result of decades of structural inequities and racism. \nPulmonary function testing (PFT) in children plays an important role in evaluating a child with known or suspected respiratory disease. PFTs are one example of a race-based clinical algorithm.
