Division Highlights - Hospitalists

The Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine provides outstanding family-centered, culturally competent, and coordinated inpatient pediatric care.

Our scholarly work focuses on system improvements, safety and quality of inpatient care, education in inpatient pediatric medicine, family centered rounds, and global health.

2012 Highlights

  • Margaret Bartholomew, MD, received the department’s Charles Lobeck Medical Education Award.
  • Sabrina (Wagner) Butteris, MD; Shannon Dean, MD; Jon Fliegel, MD; and Michelle Kelly, MD; were named “Top Doctors” by Madison Magazine.
  • Sabrina Butteris, MD, and Jonathan Fliegel, MD, were named in the 2013 “Best Doctors in America” list.
  • Jonathan Fliegel, MD, was competitively selected as one of the two national co-editors of PREP® Hospital Medicine, a new continuing medical education publication now in development at the American Academy of Pediatrics.
  • Michelle Kelly, MD, was elected as a member at large of the UW Hospital and Clinics medical board, and appointed to the board of directors of the Madison Ronald McDonald House.
  • Kristin Shadman, MD, was appointed director of pediatric continuing professional development.
  • Angela Veesenmeyer, MD, MPH, was appointed director of pediatric medical student education.
