The Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine provides outstanding outpatient care for children—24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Our research focuses on family-centered care, quality improvement, and systems redesign.

2012 Highlights

  • David Bernhardt, MD, received the Recognition of Services Award from the Wisconsin Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (WIAAP). He served on the WIAAP board of directors for six years and chairs its sports medicine committee.
  • David Bernhardt, MD; Susan Ehrlich, MD; Steven Koslov, MD; Gregory Landry, MD; Thomas Meier, MD; and Jeffrey Sleeth, MD, were named “Top Doctors” by Madison Magazine.
  • Susan Ehrlich, MD, and Thomas Meier, MD, were among the first recipients of the UW Health Patient Experience Physician Champion Award, which recognizes physicians who have achieved exemplary communication skills in the 2011 Avatar patient satisfaction survey.
  • John Frohna, MD, received the Robert S. Holm Leadership Award from the Association of Pediatric Program Directors, and was also named a member of the American Board of Pediatrics.
  • Gwen McIntosh, MD, MPH, became the School of Medicine and Public Health’s (SMPH) director of clinical curriculum.
  • Rajitha Kota, a student researcher on the Adolescent Health Research Team led by Megan Moreno, MD, MSEd, MPH, received the MPH Outstanding Student Poster Award from the Department of Population Health Sciences for her poster, “The Prevalence and Nature of Cyberbullying Among College Students.”
  • Dipesh Navsaria, MPH, MSLIS, MD, received a Special Achievement Award from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) for his work in founding the Wisconsin Reach Out and Read (ROR) Coalition. He also received the Institute on Medicine as a Profession’s Physician Advocacy Merit Award, which recognizes two to three physicians annually for their commitments and accomplishments in the advocacy arena. Finally, he was inducted into the Wisconsin Teaching Academy, and named lecturer of the year by the 2012 class of the UW Physician Assistant program.
  • Gary Williams, MD, received the UW Health Physician Excellence Award for Clinical Practice.
  • Kok-Peng Yu, MD, received the department’s Outstanding General Pediatrician Award.
