Division Highlights - General Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine

The Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine provides outstanding outpatient care for children—24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Our research focuses on family-centered care, quality improvement, and systems redesign.

2010 Highlights

  • Five division physicians—Sally Corden, MD, Adeline Kaam, MD, Katie Kelly, MD, Julie Gocey, MD, and Steven Koslov, MD—and their staff participated in microsystems projects aimed at improving office efficiency, patient education, patient satisfaction, and safety.
  • The division made quality improvements in asthma management, vaccination rates, and lead screening. It also implemented additional screening tools for childhood development, postpartum depression, and domestic violence.
  • Gail Allen, MD, presented her microsystems project on immunization process improvement at the Institute of Health Care Improvement.
  • Deirdre Burns, MD, was voted top pediatrician in Madison by the Star of Madison Awards.
  • Susan Ehrlich, MD, was voted top pediatrician in Madison Magazine.
  • Dick Ellis, MD, was awarded the UW Health Children Matter Award.
  • Kris Millin, MD, was elected the associate program director chair of the Midwest Region of the Association of Pediatric Program Directors.
  • Megan Moreno, MD, MSEd, MPH, received a 5-year, $2.5 million NIH RO1 award for her project, “Using Media to Explore Mechanisms of Behavior Change Among College Students.”
  • Caroline Paul, MD, became a new member of the Society for Pediatric Research.
