Division Highlights - Cardiology

The Division of Pediatric Cardiology provides outstanding comprehensive care to children with congenital or acquired heart disease.

Clinical specialties include inherited arrhythmias, noninvasive cardiac imaging, exercise physiology, interventional catheterization, adult congenital heart disease, and preventive cardiology.

Research investigates the biology of inherited cardiomyopathies and the response of the immature heart to physiologic stress.

2010 Highlights

  • The division’s ICAEL-certified pediatric echocardiography service expanded to offer 24/7 sonographer coverage. It also provided in-house training on imaging congenital heart disease to sonographers throughout Wisconsin.
  • J. Carter Ralphe, MD, received a $50,000 award from the Children’s Cardiomyopathy Foundation to study 3D-engineered cardiac tissue as a tool to investigate childhood hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
