Residency Program

Our residency program has 13 residents per class, plus 2 chief residents. In addition to our wonderful, new, freestanding children’s hospital, our program has recently expanded to include global health electives (current rotation sites include Haiti, Uganda, Tanzania, Swaziland, and Lesotho) and public health/advocacy opportunities.

Resident Research

Residents are now expected to complete at least one research project for which they have an assigned faculty mentor.

In addition, the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is a recipient of one of the National Institutes of Health’s Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA). This grant provides resources and opportunities for faculty and residents who have interest in physician-scientist training. To date, two previous residents have been recipients of National Institutes of Health faculty development awards (K awards) through the CTSA.
