The mission of the University of Wisconsin Pediatric Hematology/Oncology (UWPHO) Program is to provide innovative, comprehensive, and compassionate family-centered clinical care to current and future PHO patients at UW. Excellence in clinical care is dependent upon research and teaching, which are fully integrated through all aspects of this program. Division faculty specialize in the following areas:
- Evaluation and treatment of cancer and hematological disorders in children
- Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation
- Management of acute lymphoblastic leukemia and aplastic anemia
- Optimization of quality of life by focusing on symptom management, communication with patients and families, and psychosocial support
- Knowledge of the medical and psychosocial issues of childhood cancer survivors
- Services such as radiology, surgery, pathology, and radiotherapy, which together provide a multidisciplinary approach to care
The Division is pleased to sponsor the weekly Hematology/Oncology Tumor Board Case Conference. Specialty physicians in the areas of hematology/oncology, radiologists, pathologists, nursing staff, social workers, and medical and other health profession trainees are welcome to participate in these case discussions.

The Pediatric Tumor Board Case Conference is intended for specialty physicians in the area of Hematology/Oncology, radiologists, and pathologists. In addition, the topics discussed will address the continuing educational needs of nursing staff, social workers, and medical students and residents.
The purpose of the Pediatric Tumor Board Case Conference is to improve patient outcomes through education of each other from the various perspectives of the team regarding childhood cancer.
The Pediatric Tumor Board Case Conference is held every Wednesday, from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. in Room 1225 at the Health Sciences Learning Center.
Weekly topics are patient driven and may be discussed more than once during a year depending upon inpatient hospital admissions.
Hematology/Oncology Clinical Operations Meeting
Every Third Thursday
Noon – 1:00 pm
The Hematology/Oncology Clinical Operations Meeting is intended for Physicians, pharmacists and nurses working in hematology and oncology. This activity is a working conference in which policies and procedures requiring multispecialty input are discussed.
The overall educational objectives of this meeting is to increase consistency of care for Hematology/Oncology patients while maximizing the chance of positive outcomes.
