The Divisions of Emergency and Critical Care deliver state-of-the-art, comprehensive medical care to all critically ill children admitted to the AFCH. Division faculty specialize in resident medical education and continuing professional development in the areas of pediatric critical care and pediatric sedation.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support Seminar
This two-day course, offered twice every year, provides advanced practical skills in evaluation and treatment of acute illness and injury in the pediatrics patient during the first critical hour. This is an intense course composed of lectures and practical skill sessions. The skill sessions and laboratory include work in the Human Patient Simulator (HPS) laboratory and performance of simulated pediatric resuscitations.

Pediatric Sedation On-Line Training
This self-directed pediatric sedation website has been created to:
- Educate physicians to provide safe and effective sedation in children.
- Educate physicians to the rules and regulations that relate to Pediatric Procedural Sedation at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics.
- Credential staff physicians to conduct Pediatric Moderate Sedation for specific sedatives and procedures.
