Division Highlights - Pulmonology & Sleep Medicine

The Division of Pediatric Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine provides family-centered care for children with respiratory disorders, including asthma, cystic fibrosis, and chronic lung disease.

Research efforts aim to improve the health of children with lung diseases.

2012 Highlights

  • Christopher Green, MD, was named chief medical officer for UW Hospital and Clinics.
  • Christopher Green, MD; Theresa Guilbert, MD; Michael Rock, MD; D.B. Sanders, MD; and Mary Schroth, MD, were named “Top Doctors” by Madison Magazine.
  • Theresa Guilbert, MD, was a co-investigator and on the steering committees of two NIH-funded multicenter grants: “AsthmaNet: UW–Madison Clinical and Translational Research Center” (PIs: Robert Lemanske, MD, and Christine Sorkness, PharmD) and “Stability of Severe Asthma Phenotypes: Impact of Exacerbations (SARP)” (PI: Nizar Jarjour, MD)
  • Mei Baker, MD, and Philip Farrell, MD, PhD, received a 2-year, $415,273 research award from the Legacy of Angels Foundation for their project, “Improving IRT/DNA newborn screening for cystic fibrosis to reduce false positives by a new molecular strategy.”
  • Mary Schroth, MD, was among the first recipients of the UW Health Patient Experience Physician Champion Award, which recognizes physicians who have achieved exemplary communication skills in the 2011 Avatar patient satisfaction survey.
