Division Highlights - Hospitalists

The Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine provides outstanding family-centered, culturally competent, and coordinated inpatient pediatric care.

Our scholarly work focuses on system improvements, safety and quality of inpatient care, education in inpatient pediatric medicine, family centered rounds, palliative care, and global health.

2010 Highlights

  • Kris Catrine, MD, Margaret Bartholomew, MD, and Angela Veesenmeyer, MD, joined the division.
  • The division expanded its coverage to nights and weekends at St. Mary’s Hospital, and now provides 24/7 inpatient coverage at both American Family Children’s Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital.
  • Division members developed and delivered curricula on hospitalist cases, palliative care, and global health. They also provided conferences and participated in departmental faculty development.
  • The division participated extensively in hospital system and quality improvement activities at American Family Children’s Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital. These included pathway development and dissemination on asthma, bronchiolitis, and neonatal fever; practice councils; and peer/case review.
