Division Highlights - Emergency Medicine

The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine provides collaborative, family- and patient-centered care to meet the emergency medical and surgical needs of children throughout the region.

Our research focuses on injury prevention, EMS education, acute pain management, and patient simulation.

2009 Highlights

  • The division achieved daily coverage by pediatric emergency medicine physicians at the UW Emergency Department.
  • Michael Kim, MD, received the division’s residency teaching award.
  • Gregory Rebella, MD, further developed the pediatric emergency medicine residency educational curriculum, initiated the pediatric Mock Code program, and developed a pediatric residency skills workshop.
  • Joshua Ross, MD, joined the division as an assistant professor. He initiated a pediatric and emergency medicine simulation program and won the overall Best Research Presentation at the Medical College of Wisconsin’s 18th Emergency Medicine Research Forum.
  • Mary Jane Erschen, RN, BSN, joined the division as a pediatric emergency care coordinator, and conducted a pediatric cardiovascular seminar for emergency department staff.
