Division Highlights - Child Abuse & Bioethics

The Division of Child Abuse and Bioethics works through the University of Wisconsin Child Protection Program to provide clinical services for suspected child maltreatment.

Education and research efforts aim to improve the recognition, diagnosis, and treatment of child abuse victims.

Our faculty also help frame national and international debates on a variety of bioethical issues.

2009 Highlights

  • The division launched a physician performance improvement project on recognizing, diagnosing, and treating child abuse.
  • Division faculty copiloted the Statewide Medical Peer Review for Wisconsin pediatricians.
  • Norman Fost, MD, MPH, won the School of Medicine and Public Health’s Dean’s Teaching Award.
  • Barbara Knox, MD, was honored as Outstanding Alumni by the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
